Name 4 of the (I think) 9 United States that are named after a person. Bonus points for exactly naming the person. Even more bonus points for naming the Canadian provinces with the same property.

I count ten though I am not sure that two of them should really count. They are named after someone nonetheless, just not that person's actual name but a nickname.
Ten, hmm? I wonder which one I'm missing. The nickname ones I'm counting.
Wikipedia claims that one state was named after an individual person strongly affiliated with a certain place, not directly after that same place.
Duh, make that nine because I'm dumb. I'll check the remaining nine on Wikipedia.

Ten if you count the one named for the place for which the guy held a title.
An eleventh is a state commonly believed to be named after a mythical black amazonian queen.
I'd like to know the one you were mistaken about. Did you think one was named after Bartholomew Texas?
