Free engraving on iPods

I wonder if that's just a clever ploy to reduce the resale market. I'm sure a vast majority of iPod buyers will take the free engraving because why wouldn't you? It's free. Then that iPod is just a little bit harder to sell.

  1. I like the way you think ;). Never saw it from that angle, but very likely. It's not the owners they are trying to restrict from selling probably (most of them buy a new one every couple of years). Rather, they are blocking new entrants from buying used..

    Instead of the whole "product red" nonsense, they should have a program to collect used ones and find them a new home (e.g. start sending used iPod touch devices to Africa---much more usable than those OLPC pieces of junk). Shipping overseas will be only a fraction of the cost for OLPC too.
